“Love T.K.O”

She sang Teddy Pendergrass’ “Love T.K.O” on my way back home.
My dollar was one of two in her empty bag. Chicagoans are used to subway performers. She’s got a tough way to make a living.

Hat Seeks City.

This man stood on the steps of the Art Institute of Chicago. I couldn’t help but notice how his attire matched the art display in the background. Art imitated life or the other way around.

Later in the day I took a tour and came across this same man again. He owns Optimo, a hat making shop. When I stood outside his window display we exchanged smiles.

  • Question: So you really haven't been around too many hispanics, eh? A Quinceañera is a very expensive and traditional family event. In my area in south Texas, families save thousands of dollars just for this one day. In some families, they will ask guests to partake in the share of the cost by buying the dress or decorations or paying for the band or even reserving the venue for the family. Often, people will plan years ahead. They are treated like weddings in my area. - Anonymous
  • Answer:

Hola! Soy Texana! Quinceanera is about her turning 15 and becoming a woman. You are right, they are expensive and people plan ahead but it is about the girl, her moment as she steps into womanhood.

Your interpretation is not incorrect it’s part of what a quinceanera has become.

Thanks for taking the time to write. ;)
